Upper School History Program
The Country School's Upper School History program for Grades 6 through 8 has three goals: first, to use history as a vehicle to teach study skills; next, to instill in its students a genuine interest in history; and finally, to insure that each student gain an understanding of the main ideas covered.

Some of the study skills stressed in the Upper School history courses include note-taking; discussion and debate skills; doing research and writing research papers; essay writing; reading for content; presentation skills; map-making; interviewing techniques; using primary sources; working in small and large groups; studying techniques; and test-taking skills, among others. Students in all three grades use the computer labs and library, not only for research, but also for showing Power Point presentations and using some of the many history-related programs available.
