Welcome Back 9-7-06

ᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠOver the years, one of our family's rituals has been, at irregular intervals, to mark our children's growth on the door frame of Amelia's closet. While it's astounding to see how much physical growth transpires over a given amount of time, it's equally impressive to contemplate all the cognitive, emotional, social, and creative growth that accompanies these marks.
ᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠThe unfolding of the 2006-07 school year means that your child is about to embark on an amazing journey of growth and development. I would encourage you to find a way to take stock, in ways your family finds meaningful, of where he or she is now and to compare that around Thanksgiving, sometime in the winter, around Spring Break, and then at the end of the year. By June, your child will have grown in remarkable ways. It's interesting and instructive to remember, though, that the progression will naturally include spurts, regression, peaks, valleys, and dormant periods along the way.
ᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠWhile many aspects of a child's development can't and shouldn't be hurried, Country School children's experiences are enhanced by having truly talented and committed teachers as their educational guides. Our teachers are also a great resource to parents. Remember to feel free to call on them to tap into the considerable developmental expertise they have amassed over the years. Their experience provides you and your child with an important advantage as you navigate the path that lies ahead in the new school year. Welcome back!
