After School Library
AfterSchoolLibrary.jpg

Students in grades fifth through eighth may stay after school in the library without the presence of a parent if they bring a permission note from their parents on the day they are going to be in the library. Students in Kindergarten through fourth grades need to be with a parent if they are going to stay after school to use the library.

The library is open after school until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On days when school is dismissed at noon, the library will close at that time. The library will be closed after school on Fridays, during Book Fairs,
during fall and spring conferences, and on Grandparents and Dorothy Andrew Days. In addition, the library will be closed after school the last week of school.

The Country School After School Library Program
Monday - Thursday, 3:20 PM - 5:30 PM

The After School Library Program is open to all Upper School (fifth through eighth grade) students who have a permission note from a parent or guardian. It is open to all Lower School (Kindergarten-fourth grade) students who are with a parent or other responsible adult.

Student Rules
1. Students must arrive by 3:30 unless they have a note from a teacher.

2. Students must be dressed according to The Country School dress code.

3. Students must keep their voices low.

4. Students may not leave the library until they have permission from the librarian. If they have permission from a parent or guardian, they may go to aftercare after telling the librarian in charge.

5. Students may not eat or drink in the library. They may be excused for a five minute snack in the hallway.

6. Students may work on homework, research or school projects. If students are finished their work, they may read for pleasure.

7. Students may use the computer to access their network folders or networked software for school assignments. Use of the Country School Intranet for school assignments as a portal to the internet or any use of the internet must be under the “active, present, structured supervision” of a teacher, parent, or other responsible adult. Only students in grades seven and eight may use search engines, including Google. No student may use Wikipedia. Supervising adults agree to maintain the same standard of supervision provided by teachers.

8. Students may check out and/or return books.

9. Students may not use any electronic devices or cell phones in the library but may ask for permission to contact their ride if plans change.

10. Students must remain in the library for their ride from school unless they will go to band, aftercare, tutoring or another school event with supervision.
