The Kindergarten-8th Grade Buddy Program at The Country School partners an eighth grade student with a Kindergartner for the school year. Our eighth grade students are introduced to their Kindergarten “buddies” in early September. After the first week of school, the eighth graders meet their Kindergarten buddies in the front hall in the morning and walk with them to their classroom. Throughout the year the students work together on holiday projects, discover the joy of shared reading, and enjoy one another's company at school events.
It is delightful to observe the strong relationship that develops between the oldest and the youngest students in the school. The bond between them exemplifies the nurturing, child-centered environment which contributes to the education of the whole child.
