The art room is a fun and exciting environment where students can create art using their imagination and the skills they learn. Students in grades 5-8 will have the opportunity to create projects in various media, including paints, pencil, color pencil, pastels, pen and ink, and crayons. Projects include printmaking, clay construction, drawing, collage, and mixed media. Expanding on skills and knowledge learned throughout their previous years, students are encouraged to creatively challenge themselves.
The upper school curriculum emphasizes composition, color theory and design (balance, proportion, variety, harmony and unity). Observing famous artists and their works establishes a point of reference and inspiration. The students are given the opportunity and the artistic freedom to explore, create, and develop their skills. Individual attention to each students' ability creates an opportunity for success.
It is my goal to provide students with an experience in the art room that is filled with the joy of creating art!
