Curriculum Overview

At The Country School, we view the curriculum as a kind of living document, which we aim to keep vibrant and vigorous. It serves the faculty as both a roadmap and guide to providing a solid foundation for our students. At the same time, it must also be flexible and able to grow with the school and the students as the needs of both change. As a school, we keep current with educational best practices. At the same time we keep an eye on the traditions, values and history of the School. Regular review and reflection help to make sure that we are keeping the curriculum consistent with the School’s philosophy and providing the optimum education for our students. We also work to ensure that it is sequential, purposeful and thoughtful.

Our goal as a school is to create life-long learners who are well-prepared for the secondary schools to which they apply. In a variety of developmentally appropriate ways, our curriculum infuses technology, study skills, project-based and cooperative learning experiences, hands-on exploration of topics, and emphasizes student collaboration and application of concepts.
“Every one of John’s teachers commented on how well prepared he was for high school academics. A number of them mentioned that it was obvious he had been inspired and motivated by former teachers.”
