Keep in mind that Mrs. Frederick doesn't recommend using just any old search engine! Using the right tool will save you time and help you find appropriate, accurate information. Before just going to some random search engine, think about the best tool for the job, and consider some of these:

Google Advanced Search Ask
Kartoo Google Scholar
Vivisimo Noodle Tools
netTrekker (ask your teacher for login information)

A Reminder about Sources you may NOT use...

Remember that if you have been assigned a homework assignment of finding a website or even just the answer to a question online, there are some sources you may NOT use for school - whether you're at school or not! They include:

  • Wikipedia - because anyone can edit it
  • Answers.com - because it culls "answers" from the entire Internet, often using articles from Wikipedia

Any of the following domains, because they offer free web space for anyone to create a website on anything:

  • Angel Fire
  • Google Pages
  • Geocities

Happy Researching!
