After 8th Grade

The Secondary School Process

Teachers and administrators are invested in the success of every Country School student from the day he or she enters our doors, until graduation day. At every step, we are preparing our students for success at the next level, and that includes preparation for success in secondary schools. We are involved in the process of students' and families' exploration, selection and application to secondary schools. Students begin their high school transition in the spring of 7th grade during the TCS Seminar class. TCS Seminar continues throughout 8th grade and focuses on the search and application process, high school and career readiness, and prepares students mentally and emotionally to transition beyond our doors.

A young alum shared the following guidance for 8th grade graduates:

"You got this! Try not to be nervous about high school. It's different at first, but with the tools that you have acquired at TCS, you can go above and beyond in your time in high school"

Your time at The Country School has prepared you well for the challenges to come—approach those challenges with the mindset of optimism, do hard better, and you shall succeed.

We encourage our students and families to use our Secondary School Guide to assist with navigating the Secondary School selection and application process.
