Helping Your Child Manage Conflict
Conflict and disagreement are a normal part of children’s lives. Expressing different needs or wants, or wanting the same thing when only one is available, can easily lead children into conflict with one another.  When conflict is poorly managed, it can have a negative impact on children’s relationships, on their self-esteem, and on their learning. The good news is that children can learn to manage emotions and conflict in a constructive manner. With a few strategies, kids can often become problem solvers and maintain their friendships, even when conflict occurs.

In this workshop, parents will learn what kind of conflict is typical and atypical at each stage of child development, as well as concrete tools they can use with their children in helping them to resolve conflict. By learning to manage conflict effectively, children’s skills for getting along with others can be improved, leading to increased happiness, better friendships, and more positive engagement at home and school.
