Inspiration in a Time of Uncertainty

By: Neil Mufson
I always challenge myself to find the silver lining, especially in the worst of circumstances. I have found that identifying the good in any situation allows me to stay optimistic, grateful, productive, and balanced.
So I have been heartened by separate emails I recently received from two young (and extraordinary) alumni who asked if they could give back to their “old” school by helping some of our students stay on track during distance learning. I identified some candidates and off they went.

It’s easy to get discouraged by the state of the world, even before COVID governed our days. But instead, these two young people conceived of a way to offer something positive and to exert some control over their worlds. I found their selflessness, mindset, and hope nothing less than inspirational. Then again, throughout my career I have often found the wisdom, gratitude, generosity, and creativity of our young people to be galvanizing and stimulative.
