Stress Management for Families

By: Linda Schuerholz & Anne McCauley
Country School Counselors Linda Schuerholz and Anne McCauley offer some helpful resources for managing stress as a family.
We all know that being a parent can sometimes be rather stressful!  We might add to that stress our anxieties over what is happening in our world right now politically, economically and socially.

Finding a way to handle these stresses in a healthy manner may be difficult at times.   But doing so is important for our well-being as well as that of our children.  When we are coping in a healthy manner, we are well on the way to keeping our children from sensing our stress and raising their anxieties.

An axiom among first responders is that to take care of others, you must take care of yourself and this applies to family life as well. This link from the Child Mind Institute provides helpful strategies for parents to manage stress and minimize communicating emotions that children are unready to handle for themselves.
