What makes The Country School special? There are so many things, but here are just a few!
Morning Handshake
Every day at The Country School begins with a handshake between the Head of School and each student, instilling the understanding that 'It's time to learn in a school that knows you and welcomes you.' That morning connection epitomizes what makes The Country School a very special place—warmth, belonging, engagement, and individual connection in a place where teaching and learning are shared and valued.

Halloween Assembly & Parade
Halloween is always a highly anticipated day at The Country School! Students dress in their costumes, and each grade-level shows them off during our annual Halloween assembly. This past year, we added a Halloween parade to the tradition so parents could come see all the amazing costumes. K/8 buddies coordinate costumes, making for some fantastic duos!

Holiday Breakfast & Concert
The Holiday Breakfast and Concert occur on the last day of school before winter break. The breakfast is hosted by The Country School Parents' Association (CSPA). Students dress up to enjoy breakfast with their classmates before presenting a winter concert for parents and other family members in the Assembly Room.

K/8 Buddies
One of the best things about Kindergarten is our buddy program. Your kindergartener is paired with an 8th grade buddy the first week of the school year, and they will walk to class together in the mornings during the month of September. Buddies have many opportunities to do fun activities together throughout the school year, including reading, arts and crafts, eating together at the Holiday Breakfast, singing together at the Halloween Assembly and Grandfriends Day, and even taking a trip together to the pumpkin farm.

Pre-k/5 Buddies
The Pre-k/5th buddy program is a mini version of our longstanding K/8th buddy program. This newer program allows our youngest Upper School students to act as role models to our youngest Lower School students. Pre-k/5 buddies get together several times throughout the year for fun activities, including crafts and enjoying each other's company at the Holiday Breakfast.

Talent Show
Every spring, students have the opportunity to show off their many talents in our annual Talent Show. This exciting display of skill has included music, dance, gymnastics, magic, and even hula-hoop dancing. There is no limit to our students' talent, and the school is always eager to see such a variety of performances!

Upper School Musical
Upper School Musical performances occur in late February/early march before Spring Break. All Upper School students are eligible to audition for the musical in the fall. Rehearsals begin in November. Recent musical include The Sound of Music, Junie B. Jones, Matilda, and most recently Into the Woods, Jr.

Dorothy Andrew Day
Dorothy Andrew Day is The Country Schoo's field day, named for long-time faculty member Dorothy Andrew, who retired in 1984 after teaching physical education for 33 years. The whole school comes together for students to compete on the Black and Gold teams, in the spirit of sportsmanship and friendly competition. Parents and alumni are encouraged to attend to cheer on the Black and Gold teams and be part of the final Tug of War competition.

Kindergarten Tea
At the end of the school year, students of each Kindergarten homeroom host a Tea Party for their parents, thanking them for the support and love they showed them over the school year by performing songs, writing thank you messages and treating them to tea, lemonade, and delicious snacks. It's a wonderfaul way to end the year!
