New Faculty Spotlight: Kate Frase
A big welcome to TCS parent and our new Lower School science teacher Kate Frase!
Kate Frase first came to The Country School as a parent, but it is with great excitement that we welcome her to our faculty this fall. Kate has been a certified Master Environmental Educator through the Maryland Association of Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) since 2013. She has spent more than 15 years educating students of all ages from toddlers through seniors about the benefits of nature with a focus on restoration, schoolyard habitats, wetland ecology, and the Chesapeake Bay. Most recently, Kate was a contract Nature Educator for a variety of local organizations providing authentic natural learning experiences to young students to enhance their curiosity and sense of discovery.
As the past Program Director at River’s Edge Forest Play, your children may have met “Mrs. Kate” in their Forest Camps or Forest Play programs last year. Kate excels in immersion education where students gain authentic learning experiences outside year-round. Previously, Kate served as the Education Director at Environmental Concern where she led in class lessons, field trips, student-led restoration projects and taught teacher professional development in various curriculum such as Project WET, WILD, PLT, POW! The Planning of Wetland, and Wetland Plants: Know ‘Em and Grow ‘Em. Kate has also trained under Erin Kenny’s Cedarsong Way Forest Kindergarten Teacher Training Program in August 2018. Kate is the Vice Chair of the MAEOE Advisory Council and serves on the Project Green Classrooms Committee, Maryland Green Schools Committee and MAEOE Conference Committee.

Whether it is to camp, fish, hike, or go on adventures, Kate is passionate about nature and loves all things outdoors. She lives in Easton with her husband, Eric, daughters Amelia '26 and Dorothea '29, and three dogs. She is thrilled to be a part of the Country School Faculty and to lead your children on many future adventures. Prepared to get hands-on and messy!

Kindergarten Students Serving Others!
Kindergarteners have been participating in a 3 part HOHO (Helping Others; Helping Ourselves) project lead by Ferris and Laura Butler. Students packed boxes to be shipped to veterans and their families. The boxeswere filled with child friendly, donated items. Also in the boxes were handwritten letters from the students along with a handmade American flag craft. The Butlers carefully orchestrated this project, and we are very grateful for their time and efforts. -
Spring Athletic Award Winners
Congratulations to all our spring athletics award winners and to all our Cougar athletes who participated in sports and clubs! This spring, TCS offered Boys’ and Girls’ Lacrosse, Pickleball Club, Running Club, and Volleyball Club. Providing so many athletic opportunities took a village—thank you to our amazing coaches, volunteers, and parent drivers for making it all possible!
