Please join us in welcoming and congratulating former TCS teaching assistant Christine Parish into her new role as second grade teacher!
Christine Parish is not new to The Country School. As a parent of 2017 graduate Adie and rising 6th grader Spencer, a room parent, teaching assistant, and substitute teacher, she has lived The Country School life from many vantage points. Beginning with this coming school year, Christine will teach 2nd grade as Emily Cranwell moves to 5th, taking over for Edie Bishop as she leaves TCS to spend more time with her family.
Christine was born and raised in New England, from Vermont to Massachusetts, ending up on the north shore of Long Island, where, during high school and college, she fell in love with sailing. After completing her Bachelors Degree in the arts with an education minor, Christine moved to Annapolis where she began freelancing in the Annapolis/DC area. In 1996, she moved to the Eastern Shore to pursue a career in education. She was the Assistant Director of Education at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, and taught at Centreville Middle School and Christ Church Day School. Two years ago, she joined The Country School as the 2nd grade assistant while completing her Masters Degree in Teaching & Learning.
Christine treasures her family and spends all of her free time with them. Her husband, Andrew, is a Delaware River Pilot and the whole family enjoys being on their boat, cruising around the Bay, and watching Adie compete in sailboat regattas and Spencer on the golf course. During the school year, you can find them either at the hockey rink watching Spencer, or watching Adie compete on her hunter/jumper horse.
“I am so excited to step up as the new 2nd grade teacher,” Christine says. “Teaching is my true passion and I can’t wait to begin the school year!”
Kindergarteners have been participating in a 3 part HOHO (Helping Others; Helping Ourselves) project lead by Ferris and Laura Butler. Students packed boxes to be shipped to veterans and their families. The boxes
were filled with child friendly, donated items. Also in the boxes were handwritten letters from the students along with a handmade American flag craft. The Butlers carefully orchestrated this project, and we are very grateful for their time and efforts.
Congratulations to all our spring athletics award winners and to all our Cougar athletes who participated in sports and clubs! This spring, TCS offered Boys’ and Girls’ Lacrosse, Pickleball Club, Running Club, and Volleyball Club. Providing so many athletic opportunities took a village—thank you to our amazing coaches, volunteers, and parent drivers for making it all possible! And thank you to our students for setting an example of dedication and sportsmanship!
The Country School is proud to be celebrating its 90th school year. This milestone year also marks the beginning of a new chapter with the appointment of Jay Parker as the 7th Head of School.
The Country School, Talbot County Free Library, and the Avalon Foundation, sponsors, join with fourteen other community organizations to present Conversation & Homecoming with Carole Boston Weatherford and her son, Jeffery Boston Weatherford, a program free and open to all.
