TCS Welcomes Kylie Schappeler

By: Annie Hasselgren
This will be the first in a series of profiles on our newest faculty members. It will be an exciting year at TCS with the new ideas and energy these accomplished professionals will bring to our school.
The Country School is thrilled to welcome Kylie Schappeler as our newest Upper School science teacher. Kylie is an experienced middle school math and science teacher who will replace long-time TCS teacher Millicent Sheets as she scales back her work hours at school to spend time with family.

Kylie grew up in western Pennsylvania. There, she also attended Grove City College, graduated Magna Cum Laude, was named Woman of the Year, and earned her degree in Biology Secondary Education with a minor in Environmental Education. She moved to Maryland to teach middle school science in Howard County, where she met her husband Tom. Kylie earned her Masters in Curriculum and Leadership from McDaniel College and has been tutoring middle school math for the past seven years while being a stay-at-home mom with her daughters Sam and Kate. Her older daughter, Kate, will be attending Kindergarten at The Country School this fall.

Kylie enjoys running, gardening, baking, and is very involved in the Easton community through her church. She is a CASA volunteer, has been a volunteer and substitute teacher at St. Mark’s Preschool, and founded two groups in Easton for moms of young children. Kylie and her family enjoy spending time at the beach, riding bikes, listening to music, and swimming together, and have a beloved Boxer mix named Kona.

“I am very excited for the school year,” Kylie says. “This summer I will be preparing my classroom and planning for the coming year. I can’t wait to experience The Country School as a faculty member and parent. It has already exceeded my expectations from both persepctives.”
