Graduation Speech - 2017

Students interested in speaking at Graduation will have the opportunity to prepare and submit an essay on May 10th

The essay should focus on the student’s thoughts about graduation from The Country School or another similar subject.  The essay will be judged on how effectively the student expresses his/her thoughts; logical organization; word choice; smooth sentences; and no errors in capitalization, punctuation, spelling and grammar.  The completed speech should take about 5 minutes to deliver.

Students who are interested will write their papers after school in Room 8 on Wednesday, May 10th from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Students may bring notes or quotes with them, but they are to compose their speech during this assigned time.

Essays should be two-three pages, word processed on the computer and double-spaced.  Essays should have a cover sheet that includes the title of the essay, the student’s name, and the date.  Information which identifies the writer should only appear on the cover sheet.  When completed, essays should be turned in to Mr. Mufson’s office.

Essays will be judged by a faculty committee.  Once the winning essays have been selected, the writer will have a chance to revise and polish his or her essay.
