Summer Camp Guide 2017

It's March and you know what that means: summer camp registration! Fun, learning, and adventure await your child(ren) at a number of organizations on the Eastern Shore. Check out our summer camp guide to help you choose! Click on the organization name to visit its list of camp offerings.
Oil Painting Outdoors, Masterpieces for Little Hands, Puppet-Making Workshop, Fun with Tie Dyeing, and Animal Art Adventures (which includes a visit from exotic animals from the Salisbury Zoo) are just some of the offerings from AAM. Camps run throughout the summer and range in cost from $100-175. Most are for children, but adults are welcome at some.
 
Camp Bumblebee (ages 2-3), Camp Pollywog (4-6), Camp Paw Paw (7-9), Camp Whippoorwill (8-12), and Camp Egret (10-13) meet from June through July and range in price from $130-150, depending upon member status. Camps are nature-based so that children get hands-on experiences outdoors.
 
From comedy to singing and storytelling to poetry, the Avalon has something for every child this summer. Camps begin in late June and range in cost from $150-275.
 
Archery, sailing, and photography are only three of the summer camp options at Camp Pecometh in Centreville. Fees vary greatly, so please visit the link above for more information.
 
Want your child(ren) to experience a 3-day mini camp, or would you prefer an option for the whole family? Camp Tockwogh has both, and more.
 
Located on picturesque Kent Island, Camp Wright in Stevensville is a faith-based camp for active kids. $165-770.
 
Is your child a natural steward of the environment? Then this might be what you’re looking for. CBEC offers camps for children entering kindergarten through 12th grade.

Dinosaurs, circuses, pirates, oh my! CCT has it all. There is a camp for every young performer’s passions at cctheatre.org.

Chesapeake College Kids on Campus
This program offers a wide variety of academic summer courses for students entering 3rd through 11th grade. The Kids on Campus program includes many exciting educational and career exploration opportunities that provide fun, hands-on activities meant to develop and build key skills for future success. Prices range from $134 to $350 for a 2-week course.
 
CRYC has partnered with the YMCA of the Chesapeake to offer camps for kids. Visit the link above for more information.

The Country School
TCS teachers will engage your kids with Christmas in June (Ms. Brent, grades 1-2), Jump Start to Kindergarten (for children enrolled for K; Ms. Brent & Mrs. Kullman), Painting the Clouds, the Sky, and Everything Else (Mrs. Horsey, grades 3-7), I'm a Big Kid Now! (Ms. Appler, 4-year-olds), Sew Much Fun (Mrs. Frederick, grades 4-8), and Art for the Garden (Mrs. Horsey, grades 3-7). Contact Kim Balderson to register. 
 
This farm in Stevensville offers multiple week-long camps throughout the summer for children ages 5-10. View the flyer using the link above.
 
There is an option for every age at EHOS. Situated on the upper eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay, campers can stay in cabins for sleep-away camp or come just for day camp.
 
The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake offer camps in Denton, Salisbury, Earleville, and other areas on the mid-shore. Check out their summer camp guide at the link above.
 
For aspiring golfers ages 6-17, Hog Neck offers 2.5-hour, 4-day camps once per month in June, July, and August. Click above to register.
 
Mid-Shore Martial Arts
Children ages 4-13 can learn about self-defense through fun games and drills. There are 5 sessions throughout the summer that run from 9am-4pm at $50 per day. Call MSMA to register: 443-205-1230.

Kiln Born Creations
Each Kiln Born camper will do at least a minimum of one project with raw clay, glass fusing, canvas painting, ceramic painting, and t-shirt painting or tie-dye. For kids ages 6 and up, $185/week from 9am-12pm. Registration may be made online or in the studio. 
 
EcoCamp at Pickering Creek is available for children entering kindergarten through 7th grade. Days at EcoCamp are filled with swimming, ponding, hiking, crafts, meeting animals, and a whole lot more that will fill your little naturalist with even more curiosity about the world around them. (Note: All Pickering Creek camps sell out quickly!)
 
For students passionate about learning about and improving the environment, PWEC offers Chesapeake Teen Service Week (9th-12th graders) and Marine Biology Camp (6th-8th graders) in June.
 
Schrader’s Bridgetown Manor offers camps in July and August for kids ages 9-17. These are safety-based programs that teach boys and girls about proper methods for shooting shotguns, 22s, air rifles, archery, and fishing. 
 
SMCC has after-school programs during the year, as well as summer offerings from cooking to crabbing to sports. Contact the Center for more information.
 
Children ages 5-12 may sign up weekly or for the entire summer for camp with TCPR. Each week carries with it a new theme and activities and runs for 10 weeks from 7am-6pm. $135, 50 slots total. Registration must occur prior to the first week of camp.
 
Classes in the Junior Sailing Program run June 19 to August 9, and there is a Junior Instructor Program for kids 16-18. Private lessons, opti racing, and regatta coaching are also available.
 
Tuckahoe State Park
Summer camps are not yet published on TSP’s website and should be up by the end of the month, but they offer camps beginning at age 7. The office number is 410-820-1688.
 
YMCA of the Chesapeake holds camps throughout the summer for children as young as 3, including traditional camps and specialty camps beginning at $130 for members.
